No matter what happens….no matter what misery he brings to my life, I just dont see myself letting go anytime soon. I can still drive past Heathrow and have my stomach sink thinking about him. Whats that all about?

I heard an acoustic version on the radio this afternoon, and thought of this movie, one he had always wanted me to watch, one of his favourites, and for whatever reason, I never did.

Screwed up I know. (Not the bit about me not watching the movie, the other stuff)

Anyhew, Phil Collins, Against All Odds. The lyrics are perfect, and Im guessing the bearded guy always wins.

We didn’t have Marmite in our house when I was growing up (UK). Not that I can recall anyway. I first tasted it when I was about 10. It became a family staple from when I was a teenager onwards though (in South Africa). The UK Marmite is slightly thinner in texture to the South African one. Vegemite has a thicker texture than both. Interesting fact, if you are vegan, is that Vegemite is only vegan at certain times of the year. There’s a code on the jar and if there’s a K in front of the numbers then it’s vegan, otherwise not. Now that I’m in Aus I usually buy Vegemite, although I do buy Marmite if I go to an SA or UK shop.

Probably the first solid food any Aussie kid can remember being fed is a Vegemite sandwich.

We don’t bandy around the phrase “Vegemite kids” for nothing…

I’ve only ever met one foreigner who liked it and he was an Englishman who was very fond of Marmite. It’s not dissimilar.

For others, an acquired taste. A possibly NEVER taste.

To me? BLISS. Especially with a hangover, because it’s ripe with Vitamin B. God, it tastes so good…
